COVID-19 Latest: 45 of 523 Cases Test Positive in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Public Health on Thursday reported 45 new cases of the coronavirus out of 523 samples tested over the last 24 hours.  

So far, 103,722 samples have been tested in government centers and there are 7,488 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, according to data from the Ministry of Public Health.  

In the last 24 hours, the ministry also reported one new death from COVID-19 and 75 recoveries.  

The number of total cases is now 38,288, the total reported deaths is 1,410, and the total recoveries is 29,390.  

The cases were reported in Kandahar (20), Herat (9), Kabul (6), Paktia (2), Ghor (4), Farah (3) and Uruzgan provinces.  

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 863,128 and the number of global coronavirus cases is 26,036,255, according to Johns Hopkins University.
