The Bush Bazaar, a market in the Quwayi Markaz area of Kabul city, was renamed "Mujahideen Bazaar" by Islamic Emirate officials on Tuesday. 

The market is made up of hundreds of stalls and shops which sell a wide range of goods such as sports equipment, electronic devices, clothes, protein drinks, and detergent.

The market was named after the former US president, as military equipment from military bases was sold at the market. 

“We were told that this market is registered under the name of Arya Roz Bazar in Kabul municipality. There is a license for the market with this name. but they (Taliban) changed its name to Mujahideen Bazar," said Mohammad Qasim Barhaq, the head of the market.

In the meantime, several shopkeepers said they are currently selling commercial goods now that the foreign military has left Afghanistan.   

They added that business has dropped. “Customers are not so many now. Our business is down," said Sayed Jawid.

Meanwhile, Kabul residents said they were able to find high quality goods at the market in the past.

“High quality goods were at Bush Market, but there is no foreign goods as before,” Naqibullah said.  

The market, which originally started 14 years ago in Kabul, now has around 500 shops and stalls.
