The Ministry of Justice reported that across the country, more than 1.5 million acres of land that were being used illegally have been taken back.

The documents of more than 100 townships in Afghanistan, including 30 townships in Kabul, have been checked, according to Abdul Hamid Jihadyar, a spokesman for the Ministry of Justice.

Jihadyar told TOLOnews that 1,200,000 acres of land are being investigated.

"More than 1.5 million acres of government land have been stabilized and hundreds of thousands of acres of land are being investigated,” Jihadyar said.

Some Kabul residents asked the Islamic Emirate to take back the property from land-grabbers.

The residents want that all seized lands should be recognized and that the land-grabbers should be brought to justice.

"The squatters should be arrested, and they should be brought to justice so that others do not grab the land in the future,” said Habib Rahman, a resident of Kabul.

"In the republic administration, the officials had seized the lands. The Islamic Emirate should take the lands from the land-grabbers and the lands should not be usurped,” said Mohammad Ali, another resident of Kabul.

Meanwhile, some analysts urged the Islamic Emirate to retake the private lands from the land-grabbers.

"In our view, this is a positive and good step that should be supported. The Islamic Emirate should appoint honest people in this role,” said Hatif Mukhtar, head of the International Center for Strategic Studies.

According to the Ministry of Justice, more than four million acres of land have been illegally seized around the nation. The commission to prevent land grabbing is working to return these lands to their rightful owners.
