Company Resumes Activities

The Afghanistan Handicrafts Development Joint Stock Company resumed activities five months ago. 

The company's operations were halted for the past two decades.

The company's officials called on the Islamic Emirate to provide markets for its products.

The company is providing job opportunities for more than 1,000 people directly and indirectly.

“The women who are working in handicrafts--many of them are working in their homes and produce handicrafts from their homes,” said Ahmad Fardeen Ziai, head of the company.

The officials of the company said that Afghan-made clothes and decorative materials are being produced in the company.

“We have activated our production section and have products in stone, leather and other areas,” said Edris Kakar, an employee of the Afghanistan Handicrafts Development Joint Stock Company.

“It has been more than six months since we have opened, which is great to achieve after 20 years,” said Amanullah, an employee of the Afghanistan Handicrafts Development Joint Stock Company.

“A foreign exhibition will be held so that we can display our samples there. It will benefit our company and the government,” said Mohammad Yaqoob Ayoubi, head of the Afghanistan Handicrafts Development Joint Stock Company.

“There were around two to three people at first. Now we have other factories that include 15 employees,” said Haseebullah, an employee of the Afghanistan Handicrafts Development Joint Stock Company.

Afghanistan Handicrafts Development Joint Stock Company was established 30 years ago with 40% government investment and60% private sector shares for the development, production and export of handicrafts in the country, according to the website of the MoI.
