The union of traders of petroleum and liquefied gas of Hairatan and Aqina ports said there is a reduction of oil reserves in the border ports.

Abdul Momen Ziaye, head of the union, said that if the transportation does not resume from the railway track to Hairatan, the price of fuel will increase.

“There is so much demand, but there is no supply in Hairatan port. Currently gas is scarce and there is also a shortage of diesel and petroleum,” said Ziaye.

Meanwhile, the railway authorities said that the Islamic Emirate delegation will go to Uzbekistan this week and will sign a memorandum of understanding with the authorities of this country to resume the activities of the Hairatan-Uzbekistan railway.

“This week a  delegation from the railway authorities of Afghanistan will go to Uzbekistan and will sign a memorandum of understanding with the authorities of this country to resume the activities of the Hairatan-Uzbekistan railway,” said Abdulsami Durrani, spokesman of the railway authorities.

The Chamber of Industry and Mines of Afghanistan said that the border port of Hairatan is an important port for developing the country's economic activities.

“We have enough exports and imports from Hairatan port, and this port is important for transportation of the goods, especially the wheat flour and fuel, and also the exports that we have to Uzbekistan and Central Asian countries,” said Sakhi Ahmad Payman, deputy of the Chamber of Industry and Mine in Afghanistan.

According to the information of the Chamber of Commerce and investment of Afghanistan, traders export carpets, dry fruit and vegetables, and import flour, oil, and liquefied gas through Hairatan port.
