Security Agencies Criticized after University Attack

Members of families of Kabul University attack victims on Tuesday criticized the security and intelligence agencies for failing to prevent terrorist attacks in the country, saying that there is a need for proper measures to stop such attacks.

Suhaila, 21, a student, lost her life in the attack. Her family said they will not forgive those who killed their daughter.

“I called her many times, but she never picked her phone. I also phoned her friends. No one was available,” said Fawzia, Suhaila's sister.

“As bother of martyred Suhaila, I will never forgive her killers,” said Reza Yari.

Roqia Karimi is another student of public administration school at Kabul University who was killed in the attack.

Her family said security agencies should respond that how the attackers managed to infiltrate the school.

Roqiya’s father, Hussain Ali, said the attack is a failure of the government.

“We don't know who is behind the attack despite resources available to the Ministry of Interior Affairs and the Ministry of Defense,” said Hussain Ali Karimi, Roqiya's father.

“What type of government is this when you see such incidents in the city? What type of government is this when such an attack happens at a university,” said Fatima Rezaee, Roqiya's mother.

Military experts said the weakness of the intelligence agencies and a lack of coordination between the people and the security agencies is one of the factors behind such attacks.

“Our security agencies have shown over the past 19 years that they are not able to provide security incidents in the capital,” said military expert Saleh Mohammad Registani.
