The terrified students of Kabul University, the nation’s most prestigious educational center, have been reliving their ordeal after two gunmen roamed through the public administration faculty on Monday and killed at least 22 people and wounded 40 others.

They were shooting the students one by one and those who were trying to escape were also shot, survivors said.

Suhdaba Adina, a fourth-year student of the faculty of public administration, said she survived the attack mysteriously. She said that the students are still determined to return to their studies.

Suhdaba said that after hearing the first firing, the students who numbered 40 broke the window and jumped from the second floor to save their lives.

“Some of us thought that we are gone, but the window was opened, Imran, Khaled and Jalil jumped. I also got the morale and moved towards the window, but firing started towards me, but I was determined and jumped and started running,” said Suhdaba.

Fazila, a survivor student who has sustained injuries in the attack, said she saw the attackers taking lives of her classmates one by one.

“I thought that I will die. I sent a lot of messages to save others,” said Fazila, a survivor.

She said that one of the attackers went out and returned and then threw a hand grenade among the students.

Fazila said that the students tried to escape, but they were shot.

“I imagine my classmates whether I am awake. I am getting mad,” said Suhdaba.

“I will return to my class and will continue my education to serve my nation and homeland,” said Hasibullah Ahmadzai, a survivor.

This comes as dozens of Iranian students held a vigil for the university attack victims in Tehran. 

Meanwhile, a group of Afghan refugees held a vigil for the victims in London on Wednesday.
