Australia Offers Online Masters Program to 30 Afghan Students

The Australian government has offered free online masters program to 30 candidates from Afghanistan mainly the government employees and students from different universities, the Afghan ambassador to Canberra Wahidullah Waisi said on Thursday.

The candidates will pursue their education in master's degree in management of water resources.

Australian professors are teaching the students online at the Kabul Polytechnic University.

Waisi said the program is sponsored by the Asian Development Bank and is implemented by Polytechnic University, Griffith University and the International Water Center.

“These two phases of masters program have been launched by two prestigious academic institutions of Australia,” said Waisi.

“Afghanistan has five sea basins. This program is aimed at better management of water resources,” said Nasim Nasimi, deputy chancellor of Polytechnic University.

Students who will participate in the program said it will help them to develop their expertise.

“We work and study. They are two important aspects to undertake the management of water,” said Mahbubullah, a student.

“This is an important program and we have to take advantage of it,” said Abdul Ahad, a student.

Afghanistan's ambassador said that Australia has provided educational opportunities for Afghan students in the fields of mining, agriculture, agro-management and water management since 2017.
