Ariana News presenter Fardin Amini was killed in a mysterious attack on Friday, his colleagues said.
Kabul police confirmed Amini’s death but said the details of the attack are not clear so far.
This comes a day after Malalai Maiwand, a journalist at Enikass Radio and TV in Nangarhar, was killed with her driver on Thursday morning in an attack by gunmen on their vehicle in Jalalabad city, capital of the province, local officials confirmed.
Footage seen by TOLOnews shows that Amini commits suicide despite some people around him trying to save him.
The motive behind the incident is not clear so far. The Interior Affairs Ministry says Amini’s family did not allow his body to be taken to the forensic medicine department for investigation.
Recently, media workers and reporters said they are concerned about their safety after a number of journalists were targeted in the country.
Last month, Elyas Dayee, a Radio Azadi reporter, was killed in a magnetic IED blast in the southern province of Helmand.
A week before this incident, Yama Siawash, a former TOLOnews presenter, was killed in a similar blast in Kabul.
