Two people, including Sayed Mahmood Sadat, in charge of NDS prosecutors’ office in Helmand, were killed in an explosion near the provincial police headquarters in the city of Lashkargah on Saturday morning, officials said.

Helmand governor Abdul Nabi Ilham said that one of the prosecutor's security guards was also killed in the blast. 

The governor said that eight people, including a woman, were wounded in the blast.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

“The explosion occurred and several more were wounded. I was on the way to the hospital and was wounded here,” said an eyewitness Mohammad.

“The situation is getting worse day by day, the war has reached in the suburbs of the city,” said Abdul Wali Patyal, a resident in Helmand. “No youth, no tribal elder, civil society activist and journalist is safe.”

In northern Balkh province, seven members of the Afghan National Army were killed and four more were wounded in an attack by the Taliban in Chimtal district.

Afghan Army officials said the clashes happened after the Taliban attacked an army outpost in Lab-e-Nahr village in Chimtal district.

In Jalalabad city, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, a tribal elder was killed in an explosion.

Meanwhile, there are reports that at least 23 security forces members were killed and wounded in fighting with the Taliban in Balkh, Kunduz and Baghlan provinces.

“Four Taliban members were killed including one of their group leaders and three others were wounded,” said Ahmad Jawed Besharat, spokesman for Baghlan police. “Unfortunately two security force members were also martyred as a result of the fighting and three were wounded.”

“There are reports that one Afghan national army officer was martyred and four more wounded in Khanabad district of Kunduz, the Taliban also suffered casualties,” said Rabbani Rabbani, a member of Kunduz provincial council.

Based on the statistics of Afghan security agencies, parts of 23 provinces witnessed Taliban violence in the past 24 hours.

“The Afghan people want the two sides to stop the violence and agree on ceasefire,” an MP, Sadeq Qaderi, said.
