Baloch Community Calls for Their Rights at Kabul Gathering

Members of Baloch community at a rally in Kabul on Friday asked the government to consider a role for them in the peace process and ensure their basic rights as a citizen.

Some Baloch elders at the event said the community has had no role in war over the past four decades, adding that they can play a positive role in peace in the country.

“Baloch people have been very peaceful,” said Abdul Hakim, a participant of the rally.

Protestos said that sustainable peace will not come unless there is justice for all ethnicities.

“The Baloch community has never been engaged in violence during. They joined no group and they can paly a constructive role in the peace process,” said Hamid Shirzai, a participant of the rally.

“The Istanbul conference is a messenger of peace for Afghanistan. All Afghans are looking to the conference. If the Afghan statesmen believe in peace, they should consider a role for all ethnicities in the reconciliation process,” said Nader Baloch, a Baloch elder.

The participants of the rally said they do not want to provoke convulsions and clashes; but they insist that if their demands are not met, they will continue their protests.
