HCNR Urges National Consensus for Peace

The High Council of National Reconciliation (HCNR) on Thursday emphasized the need for unity among Afghan political leaders to bring the peace process to a successful conclusion.

Haji Din Mohammad, the deputy head of the HCNR, appealed to the international community to help Afghan leaders come together in the peace process.

“When there is no foreign forces, the Afghans themselves need to create the system and avoid negligence,” said Haji Din Mohammad.

The HCNR and some other political leaders have said that Ghani has the responsibility to unite the politicians.

“The Taliban are waging war for power under the pretext of Sharia (Islamic law), Ashraf Ghani fights under the pretext of democracy,” said military analyst Saleh Mohammad Registani.

“The Afghan government should speak on behalf of one party and all factions,” said MP Nahid Farid.

“Afghanistan is at a critical stage, there is a need to take advantage of this stage; otherwise, we will be split into pieces again,” said Ilyas Wahdat, an adviser to President Ghani.
