Kabul: Family of Slain Teacher Demands Justice

Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday killed private school teacher Roeen Latifi in PD11 of Kabul, taking his cash and mobile phone.

The victim’s family called on the government to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Roeen was on his way home with his friends at 9:30pm when the attack occurred.

“He was a teacher, he studied to serve the people, what was his fault?” said Shukrul Haq, the victim’s father.

Roeen was a graduate of political science.

Kabul police said that security forces are investigating the case.

“Those who act like security contractors but aren’t able to provide security must be fired,” said Tamim, the victim’s brother.

“We are tired of this situation,” said Mohammad Zaeem Jasoor, the school principle.

In the western part of the city, security sources said that at least three people--among them the commander of Kabul Police Academy--were wounded in an exchange between police and unidentified gunmen in the Khawja Jam area of Paghman district.
