Two People Killed in Separate Incidents in Kabul

Two people, including an employee of the Afghan Air Force named Azizullah and a mixed martial arts fighter named Fattah, were killed in two separate incidents in Kabul in the last 12 hours, security sources said.

The air forces employee was killed in an attack by unknown gunmen in the Beni Hesar area in Kabul's District 8 on Saturday evening, sources said.

Police said investigations into the incident have started.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack and said he was a pilot. But Kabul police said he was not a military person.

On Sunday morning, Fatah, 21, an MMA fighter, was killed in a clash with unknown attackers in the Sar-e-Kotal area in the north of Kabul, security sources said.

Police said that seven people were arrested in connection with the incident.

Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Azizullah was an air force pilot. He was an employee of the Afghan Air Force, but not a pilot.
