Senior Taliban Official: Framework of New Govt Expected Soon

A senior Taliban official has told Reuters that the framework for the creation of the new government is expected to be announced in the next few weeks.

Sources have said that the Taliban and other Afghan political leaders have continued their discussions on the formation of a new government, however, there has been no discussions on main issues so far.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi is expected to visit Kabul soon.

“The Taliban will announce the framework of the new government in the next few days,” a senior Taliban member told Reuters.

“He said that Taliban’s legal, religious and foreign policy experts are working to prepare the framework,” he said.

“We must be patient in the view of the talks with the Taliban, let give them at least ten days, it is a good news that war did not happen in Kabul, I think rest of the issues will move forward in a good way if all ethnicities and women see themselves in the government,” said political analyst Tariq Farhadi.

“If they continue with their monopolization of power like Ashraf Ghani and distribute the power to the certain provinces and do not respect other provinces and the people, there is possibility of a civil war,” said Farhad Akbari, a political activist.

There are reports that the Taliban’s deputy leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has arrived in Kabul.

This comes a day after former president Hamid Karzai and Abdullah Abdullah, the head of the High Council of National Reconciliation met with Abdul Rahman Mansour, the acting governor of Kabul in which they discussed security of Kabul city and protection of people’s lives and properties.
