The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation announced financial support for families who have been internally displaced in order to facilitate their return to their homes.

The ministry officials in Kabul said each family will receive 10.000 Afs, and food and fuel, to re-settle their own places in the provinces.

Abdul Matin Rahimzai, head of the refugees and repatriation department in Kabul, said the process of transferring displaced families is being shared with some organizations.

“Some organizations promised to provide transport costs. Some others have pledged to pay cash and food for the families,” said Abdul Matin Rahimzai.

At the same time, dozens of displaced families in Sarai Shamali camp complained of bad conditions at the camp, saying they are dealing with many problems.

Six months ago, Sayed Agha, along with his family, fled from Kapisa. After living four months in a rental house, Sayed Agha went to stay in the Sarai Shamali area.

“My wife and two children are sick. I don’t have money to go to a doctor. No one helps us here,” he said.

Displaced people at the camp said they urgently need aid as the winter is coming.

“My family has thirty members. They need food and blankets as the weather gets colder, " Mohammad Din, a displaced person told TOLOnews.

Families face food and fuel shortages.

“Only my husband was the breadwinner, he is now unemployed. We have no income now,” Nasira said.

Some laborers speaking with TOLOnews complained about the current situation, saying  they have been without work and income for the past month.

Meanwhile, some national and international organizations have raised concerns over the poverty and hunger which seem to be increasing as the cold weather comes.

“We are in a race against the clock to save lives before the harsh winter arrives and temperatures drop to as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius. Hundreds of thousands of displaced people urgently need shelter, warm clothes and food in the coming weeks," said Jan Egeland, secretary general of the Norwegian Refugee Council.
