Afghan-Japan Hospital Needs Supplies, Payroll Funds

Officials at the Afghan-Japan hospital said they face a lack of medicine and other medical supplies and that it has been four months since their employees have not received salaries.

The Afghan-Japan hospital is the best equipped hospital for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

“We ask donors who have helped us in the past to pay the salaries of our employees, because they have financial problems,” said Tariq Ahmad Akbari, head of the Afghan-Japan hospital.

“If assistance does not resume, there is the possibility of human catastrophe in the country,” said Hashmatullah Faizi, a doctor at the hospital.

Patients at the Afghan-Japan hospital complained about the lack of medicine. Abduraof, who has been hospitalized for 10 days, complained about the shortage of medical supplies.

“Since last night, there has been no medical assistance, there isn’t access to medicine. Doctors went to the ministry to get their salaries but they didn’t receive them and they said they will not work anymore,” he said.

“The medical sector is very important, everyone should pay attention to it. Doctors should be given attention so that they can treat patients,” Abdurazaq, one of the Covid-19 patients, told TOLOnews.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of a possible outbreak of Covid-19 in the world’s poorest countries in the coming year.

The Ministry of Public Health said that over 1.9 million people were vaccinated in Afghanistan, but this is a low number compared to the population of the country.

Previously, the world health organization (WHO) said that the health sector of Afghanistan was facing a shortage of medicine and medical equipment, causing a crisis in the health sector of Afghanistan.

The halt of global aid and the lack of medical equipment in the country has led to the closure of most Covid-19 hospitals in many parts of the country and lack of medical equipment for the patients.
