The delegation of the Islamic Emirate held talks with the envoys of European Union on November 26th-27th in Doha, capital of Qatar, a spokesman said on Sunday.  

The two sides discussed political, economic and humanitarian issues related to Afghanistan.  

“Yesterday, the meetings were conducted with the delegation of the European Union. Today also the negotiations are continuing. The talks focus on politics, economy and humanitarian (issues),” said Mohammad Naeem, a spokesman for the Islamic Emirate’s political office. 

Earlier, Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi said that the delegation of the Islamic Emirate met the Qatari foreign minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.  

“(A)senior delegation led by Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar,” he said.  

“The meeting focused on bilateral relations, security, education and (the) humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, and issues of mutual interest,” Balkhi added.  

Political analysts believe that the meetings aim to find ways of providing humanitarian support to Afghanistan.  

“They meet with the Taliban to find ways to provide humanitarian support to Afghanistan without recognition of the Taliban,” said Toreq Farhadi, an analyst.  

“The (Islamic Emirate) should take advantage of dialogue with world countries because we are struggling with severe economic problems,” said Asif Mubligh.
