Saudi Arabia Provides 197 Tons of Humanitarian Aid to Afghans

Saudi Arabia has provided 197 tons of humanitarian aid including food, clothes, and blankets to Afghanistan's Red Crescent Society on Wednesday.

In a gathering held to hand over the aid to Afghan officials, the Saudi ambassador in Kabul, Mashaal Al-Shammari, said Afghan people need more humanitarian aid, and he urged the international community to assist the people of Afghanistan.

“We will continue our aid to Afghanistan and will jointly work with the Afghan Red Crescent Society to increase the rate of humanitarian aid to the country,”

While receiving the aid, the acting head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, Matinulhaq Khales, said “we thank Saudi Arabia and its people for supporting Afghans,”

Several families while receiving the aid called on the government to increase efforts to help poor families, saying "this is not enough." “My children are hungry, I have only 150 afghanis in my pocket now, we do not have food at home," said Zekrullah, a resident.

International agencies warned earlier that millions of Afghans face starvation amid winter.
