MoI to Provide Uniforms for Police

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) of the Islamic Emirate is seeking to provide uniforms and military training for the ministry’s police forces.

Nearly five months have passed since the Islamic Emirate took power in Afghanistan, and the deputy spokesperson of the MoI, Mohammad Aqel Ozam, said Tuesday the ministry intends to provide special uniforms for the police.

“The Ministry of Interior has started making uniforms for police, besides training them. This plan will continue until all police forces are given uniforms,” said Mohammad Aqel Ozam.

A number of military analysts expressed optimism that a special uniform will raise trust and restore order to society.

“three things are important for police: special uniforms, appearance, and an awareness of laws,” said Samar Sadat, a military analyst.

“The government must focus on standard training for police forces, ” Asadullah Nadeem told TOLOnews.

Several residents of Kabul welcomed the decision of the Ministry of Interior.

“People will feel comfortable if the police forces are in uniform, those who are commiting crimes with the same appearance will not try that again,” said

Since the victory, the Islamic Emirate forces have been serving without a special uniform. Residents believe that providing a uniform will distinguish the police force from individuals who are harming the standing of the Islamic Emirate’s forces by committing crimes.
