Hayat Gul, a resident of Ismail Khail Manozai district in Khost province and a member of the previous government's army, committed suicide about 20 days ago due to poverty and unemployment, leaving seven children behind.

His children say that they have lost their sole breadwinner and now they face an uncertain future and a bad economic situation.

According to his family members, Hayat Gul was a member of the army of the former government.

“It was around twelve o’clock, my father was in bed. He told me to go outside, I went and then I heard an explosion. When I came in I heard everyone crying and I saw my father lying on the bed,” said Nasib Noor, Hayat Gul’s nine-year-old son.

Suraya, the daughter of Hayat Gul, says that she will not be able to continue her education after losing her father.

“When our father was alive, he would bring us books, notebooks and everything, now that our father is dead, there is no one to bring us notebooks and books,” she said.

“Now, I’m responsible for my brother’s family. Anyone who watches this video, if they help my nephews, I would be very grateful for their assistance and cooperation,” said Mohammad Gul, Hayat’s brother.

Hayat Gul’s wife says the uncertain future of her children is her biggest concern.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate says that it is working to help Hayat Gul’s family, as well as similar families in the country.

“Amir al-Muminin has ordered that we address such problems of families and solve them,” said Shabir Ahmad Osmani, director of the information and culture department of Khost.
