MoE Says All Schools to Open

The Ministry of Education (MoE) said that all schools will be reopened--for both girls and boys-- in the coming spring.

The MoE said that it will implement some new practices for the educational system in the solar year of 1401.

“On the third of Hamal (March 23), all schools for girls and boys up to grade 12 will be opened in Afghanistan,” said Aziz Ahmad Reyan, a spokesman for the MoE.

Afghan girls expressed happiness they can attend their schools.

Shila, 16, says that she was counting the minutes to the start of her studies alongside her classmates.

“Our one educational year was wasted due to changes in Afghanistan, and we couldn’t study. I hope to graduate from school and attend university,” she said.

“I am in the fifth grade. I go to school. When I see older girls not going to school, I think that I may also be deprived of going to school one-day,” said Hasinat, a student.

“I hope the girl schools are reopened and the girls will be mentally and physically protected,” said Waheeda Adalat, a women’s rights activist.

Women’s access to work, girls’ access to education and the formation of an inclusive government are the preconditions of the international community to consider recognition of the Islamic Emirate.
