UAE to Establish Mobile Clinic for Earthquake Victims

The UAE has established a mobile clinic in the southeastern province of Khost to treat the people affected in the recent earthquake in Afghanistan, local officials said.

A devastating earthquake last week hit southeastern Afghanistan and left over a thousand people dead and hundreds of others wounded.

“We have talked about a clinic. The work is started on the clinic. Soon a clinic will be constructed for us,” said Bahram Musa, head of the Khost airport.

Head of the Afghan traders’ council in UAE, Obaidullah Sadarkhail, said that an air bridge has been facilitated between the UAE and Khost to provide humanitarian support which includes food and other basic supplies to the people affected by the earthquake.

“After the earthquake happened in our provinces, the government oof the UAE decided to provide emergency supplies through an air bridge. The flights take place on a daily basis and bring tents, blankets and medicine,” he said.

Meanwhile,  residents of Khost province expressed concerns about their economic conditions and called for aid.

“We call on all countries to help, as is the Islamic Emirate with the people of Afghanistan,” said Shamir Haqyar, a resident of Khost.

Many aircraft loaded with humanitarian aid from the UAE, Qatar, Iran and Pakistan have arrived at Khost airport.
