Commission to Prevent Land Grabbing Holds First Session

The commission to prevent land grabbing, which is administered by the Justice Ministry, conducted its first meeting.

The officials of the commission said that many of the lands that were usurped will be returned, once the commission begins its activities.

According to the rules established by this commission, only the Islamic Emirate's leader will be able to inhabit, sell, distribute, and transfer government land.

"Despite the decree, if someone is found who distributes government land to someone else, or if an officer considers this to be his authority and seizes the land, he is a criminal and will be held accountable,” said Sheikh Noorul Haq Anwar, head of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG).

In addition to the Attorney General, the commission to prevent land grabbing is made up of four acting ministers and works under the Ministry of Justice's direction. This commission is in charge of preventing land grabbing and stabilizing taken land.

"We don't want to make ...the oppressed people suffer. Instead, we want to give the land back to the rightful owners,” said Attorney General Shamsuddin Shariati.

The Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing said that it is taking due care when taking back the lands and will begin its operations in Aino Maina of Kandahar.
