122 Afghan Refugees Detained by Sindh Police: Pakistani Media

At least 122 Afghan refugees including women and children have been detained by the police in the Sindh province of Pakistan due to a lack of legal documents, the country’s media reported.

The Afghan refugees in Pakistan said that they are struggling with severe challenges.

“We call on the government of Afghanistan to talk with the Pakistani officials and find a solution for the problems of the refugees,” said Hajji Nazar, an Afghan refugee.

“Yesterday, the Afghan refugees were arrested at the checkpoint, they treated them with inhumane behavior,” said Akbar Sulaimankhail, an Afghan refugee in Pakistan.

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said that its delegation would soon visit Pakistan to assess the problems of the Afghan refugees there.

“Sharing concerns of Afghan refugees and finding solutions to them will be the agenda of the delegation," said Abdul Mutalib Haqqani, a spokesman for the Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation.

“We are continuing our efforts as consulate to obtain the release the Afghan refugees detained," said Sayed Abdul Jabar Takhari, Gen. Consulate of Afghanistan in Karachi.

The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said that efforts are underway to release the Afghan refugees detained in Pakistan.
