An official of the Culture and Information Ministry said that the department of Access to Information restarted its activities, and that it is no longer a commission.

Officials of the ministry pledged that after this the spokespeople of Islamic Emirate will make information available to the media in a timely manner.

Muhajer Farahi, deputy of publications of the ministry added that at first meeting of the department all spokespeople participating talked about the importance of access to information.

"The department of access to information restarted its activities in the Ministry of Culture and Information," said Farahi.

Meanwhile, some media-supporting organizations asked the ministry for access to information in a timely manner.

"We asked the government to, according to access to information law, offer information to the media in a timely manner," said Masror Lutfi, media head of Afghanistan reporters' union.

Some journalists said that most of the time the spokespeople denied giving information to media.

"Reporters are faced with lots of problems because access to information is very limited," said Mustafa Shahreyar, a reporter.

"Officials of the Ministry of Culture and Information and other departments several times pledged to give information but still now reporters are facing challenges with access to information," said Mohammad Raqeeb Fayaz, a reporter.

The Ministry of Culture and Information said that they add some changes to the law of access to information and sent it to the leadership of Islamic Emirate for approval.
