The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan said that the previous government was opposed to intra-Afghan dialogue and attempted to disrupt this process after the Islamic Emirate and Washington signed the Doha Agreement.

The current government's spokesperson, Zabiullah Mujahid, said that the Islamic Emirate was forced to take military action after being disappointed with the progress of the negotiations.

These comments were made following the publication of a book by Mike Pompeo's, the former US secretary of state.

In his book, Pompeo said that Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, former president of Afghanistan, prevented the US and the Islamic Emirate from reaching an agreement during their peace negotiations.

In response, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate said that the negotiating team in Kabul was always against Intra-Afghan Dialogue.

“When the Americans and us came to an agreement, it was time to begin the intra-Afghan dialogue. Sadly, the Kabul government prevented it, and the Kabul government's top officials were a barrier and did not allow the intra-Afghan negotiations to proceed,” Mujahid told TOLOnews.

Zabiullah Mujahid added that the Islamic Emirate was forced to take a military path.

"There was a need for this and the Islamic Emirate was forced to solve this issue through military means,” he said.

"In all areas, we are presently facing an unfortunate situation, without a doubt, its foundation goes back to the irresponsible withdrawal of Ashraf Ghani from the nation,” said Sayed Jawad Sajadi, a university lecturer.

"Ghani's departure was a good thing because if he had stayed in the country, tragic events would have been repeated like the past administrations,” said Toryalai Zazai, a political analyst.

Many Kabul citizens accuse Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, Afghanistan's former president, of causing the country's economic crisis and the fall of the republican government.

“People are in pain. You can see how our youth developed addictions. Ashraf Ghani's escape was the main cause of everything,” said Mujtaba, a resident of Kabul.

Mike Pompeo, the former secretary of state for the United States, in his book referred to Ashraf Ghani, the former president of Afghanistan, as a "total fraud" and accused him of wasting humanitarian help provided by the US to the Afghan people.
