Passport Distribution Will Start Next Wednesday: Officials

The General Directorate of Passports said that the distribution of passports will resume nationwide next Wednesday. This follows five months without distribution.

According to the directorate officials, there are sufficient passport booklets in the country and they are trying to issue up to 10,000 passports to the citizens of the country each day.

"The passport distribution process will resume (next) Wednesday in Kabul and the provinces at the same time, and we have made every effort to provide convenience for the people,” said Abdul Karim Hasib, director of the General Directorate of Passports.

The General Directorate of Passports noted that forgery was prevented in the institution and that citizens can get passports in their own province.

"In the past, the system was only accessible in Kabul. From now on, people can choose in their respective provinces,” said Shir Shah Qureshi, deputy of the passports directorate.

Some Kabul residents asked the Islamic Emirate to simplify the passport distribution procedure and to distribute passports transparently to the people.

"There should at least be transparency when they begin the process of distributing passports next week and on Wednesday,” said Ahmad Milad, a resident of Kabul.

"They should also try to make this process of distributing passports transparent,” said Saifullah, another resident of Kabul.

The deputy of the General Directorate of Passports pledged that this process will not stop again.
