Officials within the State Ministry for Disaster Management said that more than 1,000 people have been killed and over 2,000 others have suffered injuries in natural disasters across the country this year.
Speaking at a gathering held on reducing risks of natural disasters, Mullah Janan Saaiq, an official of the disaster management ministry said that more than 1,000 people have died from natural disasters in 1401 (solar year).
“1,096 people have lost their lives across Afghanistan. 2,157 people were wounded. 10,806 houses have been destroyed,” he said.
According to officials, nearly 11,000 houses have been destroyed over the course of the year and natural disasters are still threatening 22 provinces.
“This year in 22 provinces of the country, the people suffered heavy financial losses. These provinces are currently also at risk of natural disasters,” said Shamsuddin Haqyar, head of the foreign affairs department of the Natural Disaster Ministry.
The ministry said that it has provided land to many families who have been affected in natural disasters.
