23 Afghan Provinces Affected by Recent Flooding

In recent flooding in 23 provinces, 10 people have died and 80 others were injured.

Parwan, Uruzgan and Balkh were the provinces most affected.

Some Parwan residents said that heavy rains and floods caused huge financial losses for the residents of this province.

"The situation is very bad and all ways are closed," said Noorullah, a Parwan resident.

"We are at the area and will address people's challenges," said Mohammad Idris Anwari, the deputy governor of Parwan.

Some Uruzgan residents said that floods destroyed their agricultural lands and some houses, and they called on the Islamic Emirate and aid organizations to help them.

"Floods affect people's agriculture lands and destroy gardens," said Salam Jan, an Uruzgan resident.

"Suddenly floods came and wounded one member of our family," said Samat, a resident caught in the flooding.

Meanwhile, the State Ministry for Disaster Management said that in the recent flooding, more than 2,000 houses were destroyed and hundreds of acres of agricultural land were also destroyed.

"Due to rain, floods, and earthquakes in the first month of 1402, 10 people have died and 76 have been injured and 1,779 houses and 22,000 acres of agriculture land have been destroyed in 23 provinces of the country," said Shafiullah Rahimi, spokesman of the State Ministry of Disaster.

OCHA said that heavy rains and flash flooding have already affected some 645 families across 7 provinces.

The Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority warned of heavy snow, rain and thunderstorms, with flash floods in 26 provinces.
