Discussions Held on Sidelines of Doha Meeting on Afghanistan

Some of the participating countries' representatives talked about the situation of Afghanistan on the sidelines of the two-day Doha meeting.

The Qatar Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, met on Monday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi.

During the meeting, they discussed the necessary arrangements for organizing the second edition of the International Conference on Afghan Women's Education to be held in Doha.

“They also discussed the necessary arrangements for organizing the second edition of the International Conference on Afghan Women's Education to be held in Doha, in addition to the facilities provided by the Indonesian government to Afghan students, and the implementation and follow-up mechanism for educational scholarship programs,” Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar said in a statement.

"They (the females) should become conscious, awaken, and take constructive steps like Ayesha, like Fatimah, and like Khadijah tomorrow in the stronghold of calling, enlightening the community, and becoming beneficial and useful to their community," said Rahimullah Kashaf, a religious cleric.

In the meantime, the Pakistan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar in a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi said the international community should take credible steps in support of Afghan people.

“MoS underlined importance for the international community to take credible steps in support of Afghan people,” Pakistan's foreign ministry tweeted.

"They are looking out for their own interests, and it's possible that they made these remarks to the international community and the United Nations in order to receive positive feedback," said Idris Zazai, a political analyst.

On Monday, Hina Rabbani Khar said on the sidelines of the Doha meeting that the 40 million people in Afghanistan should not be victims of politics.

PTM leader Manzoor Pashteen responded to Pakistan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar's remarks:

“Ms. Hina Rabbani, For your kind info, Afghan people are worstly treated in Karachi prison,de-humainsed on crossing gates, & visas sold at them on high prices. Here you plunder them, capitulate their miseries & than say that they are in trouble. Secondly, Afghan issue is political.”

"Afghans travel to Pakistan not out of enthusiasm but out of need. Everyone values their country, and arresting people in a situation of compulsion is not right,” said Tahir Khan, a Pakistani journalist.

The Doha meeting hosted by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres ended on Tuesday two days.
