25.4 Percent Afghans Living in Urban Areas in 1401: NSIA

The National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) shared its findings from a survey showing that 25.4 percent of Afghans were living in urban areas and 74.6 percent were living in rural areas in 1401 solar year. 

According to the survey, 54.5 percent of the population were between ages 0-17 and 45.5 was beyond 17 years of age.

The survey also found that 28.7 percent of girls have were married before age 18 and 9.6 percent were married before the age of 15. 

The NSIA said that the rate of the students' participation in primary school was 47.5 percent, in secondary school 20.3 percent and high school was 32.6 percent.

Speaking to the reporters in Kabul, Faqir Mohammad Ziar, acting head of the NSIA, said that “in general 23,221 families have been surveyed in 1401.”
