Iran Accuses US of Supporting Daesh in Afghanistan

Iran's ambassador to Kabul, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, accused the US of supporting Daesh in Afghanistan, saying that Washington has destroyed the economic and security infrastructure in the country.

In an interview with an Iranian media outlet, he said: “NATO and the US partners have destroyed the infrastructure, economy and security of this country. Although the US exited, it is still engaged in evil behavior. Supporting terrorism and Daesh is part of its activities," Qomi said.

The Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that Daesh has been destroyed in Afghanistan and that the Islamic Emirate doesn’t want the country to become the field of regional rivals.

"We don't want Afghanistan to be a field for the competition of countries. Second, we pledge that Afghanistan is secure and stable. There is no group growing here, and we don't allow any country to support Daesh here," Mujahid said.

“"There is no doubt that the presence of the Americans have affected the social, cultural and educational infrastructure,” said Mohammad Zalmai Afghanyar, an economist.

Qomi said that efforts have been taken by the interim Afghan government to tackle the terrorist groups but their presence is a threat to the region as well.
