Boat Sinking Claims 13 Lives in Nangarhar

This morning (Saturday), a boat sank in the Momandara district of Nangarhar, resulting in the deaths of thirteen people, including women and children.

The incident occurred in the Baila area of Momandara district, Nangarhar.

Ehsanullah Sajid, the head of Nangarhar's Information and Culture Department, stated that 13 passengers were rescued, and the rescue operation is still ongoing.

Ehsanullah Sajid said: "A boat carrying about 25 passengers sank. Thirteen people have been rescued and are in good condition. The bodies of eight people have been recovered, and five others are still missing."

Woles Mir, the head of the Momandara district hospital, stated that the boat had nearly 30 passengers, and so far, seven bodies have been brought to the hospital.

He added: "A boat capsized in the Baila area with approximately 30 people on board. Seven bodies and eleven injured individuals have been brought in."

Residents of this district (Momandara) are calling for the construction of a bridge, noting that a schoolteacher had previously lost his life in the river in this district.
