Tamadon TV to Be Shut Down Over Political Affiliation and Seized Land Use

The Ministry of Justice announced that Tamadon TV in Kabul will be shut down due to its affiliation with a political party and its operation on illegally seized land.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice, Barkatullah Rasooli, in a statement said that in addition to Tamadon TV, the Khatam -Al-Nabieen University and religious school also will be closed due to their association with the dissolved "Islamic Movement of Afghanistan" party and their operation on seized Islamic Emirate land.

"Tamadon TV, Khatam -Al-Nabieen religious School and university, which are associated with the dissolved 'Islamic Movement of Afghanistan' party and have their buildings constructed on seized Emirate land, are being shut down, and their offices will be closed by the Ministry of Justice," the statement reads.

The statement also mentioned that the Islamic Emirate has declared all political parties in the country dissolved, and as a result, media outlets affiliated with these political parties are also not allowed to operate.

Previously, the Islamic Emirate announced the suspension of operations of Noor and Barya TV channels.

The Commission on Media Violation (CMV) had cited the television stations' non-compliance with the commission's recommendations and their neglect of journalistic standards as the reasons for their suspension.

Yesterday (Thursday, June 6), Tamadon TV reported that a delegation from the Ministry of Justice had warned them about the "imminent shutdown" of their broadcasts.
