Tehran, Kabul Emphasize Expanding Cooperation for Regional Stability

The acting Foreign Minister of Iran stated that Tehran and Kabul, considering the civilizational and cultural commonalities between the two countries, strive together in cooperation and coordination to maintain regional stability and security.

Ali Bagheri, in a phone call with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate, emphasized the importance of Afghanistan's close relations with regional countries.

In a press release, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: "The acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan referred to the good relations between Iran and Afghanistan and expressed hope that bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Kabul in various fields would expand even further."

Wahid Faqiri, an international relations expert, said: "Currently, both the Taliban and the Iranians are trying to cooperate and avoid plotting and hostility against each other."

This Iranian official added that the people of Afghanistan are the main decision-makers in their country’s cooperation with neighboring and regional countries and will not allow outside players, who have a history of destructive interventions and are responsible for current issues, to interfere.

Kamran Aman, a political analyst, stated: "The Islamic Emirate always strives to have good relations with all countries, especially neighbors."

Meanwhile, nearly ten days ago, Tehran hosted a meeting of the Moscow Format Regional Contact Group on Afghanistan, where key issues concerning Afghanistan, the third Doha meeting, and some other topics were discussed.
