Some residents of Kabul's Police District 13 have complained about the non-payment of compensation for their property and have called on Kabul municipality officials to address the matter.
Khaleq Dad Hussaini, one of the residents of this district who has faced many economic challenges while seeking compensation for his house, is demanding payment.
He told TOLOnews: "Our request is to receive the money or land they promised us as soon as possible so we can use it to support our lives or buy a house somewhere else."
In addition, some residents of this district have said that they were not given enough time to evacuate their homes and are demanding immediate payment for the compensation of their houses.
"The people's requests should be heeded. The compensation forms were brought secretly in the evening and distributed to some people, but others got nothing," said Chaman Shah, a resident of Police District 13.
"People were not given enough time and no compensation was paid. The law states that first, people's houses should be compensated, the costs should be paid, and then they can start the demolition. The compensation form has not yet arrived, and when I went to the district office, they said they have not yet signed the compensation form," said Noor Mohammad Sarwari, head of the district council in Police District 13.
Meanwhile, Nematullah Barakzai, a representative of Kabul municipality, pledged the full payment for the compensated properties.
According to him, about 580 properties in District 13 have been compensated for.
Nematullah Barakzai told TOLOnews: "This project is a twenty-month project that has started its work, and about 580 properties along this road will be compensated. The compensation work has started, and according to the law, in the first step, they will receive the payment for their buildings, and after confirming the ownership, they will receive compensation for their buildings."
Earlier, Kabul municipality announced that in the solar year 1403, it would implement 165 projects worth over 4 billion afghanis in the capital. These projects include road construction, canal building, and parks.
