Pir-e-Herat Home: Sanctuary for the Destitute, Disabled

The Pir-e-Herat Home is a safe and peaceful shelter for dozens of destitute and disabled individuals.

The head of this home said that most of these disabled children have entered a new life in this home after being rejected by their families.

According to him, the home for the disabled continues to operate with financial support from public support and benefactors.

Abdul Ali Naw Dost, the head of the Pir-e-Herat Charity Foundation, said: "Children with no fathers, neglected, and identity-less children are cared for in this home. The Pir-e-Herat Charity Foundation has been established through public support and continues to be managed with public assistance."

Officials at this home added that many of these children were born with disabilities, while others became disabled due to illnesses.

Some of the children who spend their days and nights in this home are asking the Islamic Emirate to address their problems.

"We face many physical problems, and our conditions differ from those of other people in society. Our request from the Islamic Emirate government is to support us and address our needs," said Naqibullah Saburi, a disabled child.

This home also shelters several individuals who were disabled in recent wars without any support from the government or their families.

"I was injured during the jihad. They took me to Pakistan and hospitalized me there. Foreign doctors said I wouldn't recover and that my illness was a neurological problem. One of my hands and one of my legs are paralyzed," said Abdul Azim, a disabled person.

The Pir-e-Herat Home is said to be the first 24-hour care facility for children with no father and disabled individuals in the country.

The doors of this home have been open to the disabled and helpless for nearly twenty-five years.
