Islamic Emirate Criticizes Officials' Names Remaining on UN Blacklist

The Islamic Emirate has criticized the international community for not fulfilling its commitment to remove the names of Islamic Emirate officials from the UN blacklist.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, told TOLOnews that the international community has not yet honored its commitments regarding the lifting of sanctions, including the removal of officials' names from the blacklist.

Mujahid called on the world's countries to engage with the Islamic Emirate and reconsider the sanctions.

The spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate said: "Unfortunately, some countries have not taken any steps in this regard so far. Some other countries, which had certain laws and details against us, have removed or are in the process of removing them, for which I am grateful. Overall, I want all countries to do the same."

Mujahid also stated that imposing sanctions on the Islamic Emirate is ineffective but impacts the lives of the people in Afghanistan.

Najib Rahman Shamal, a political analyst, told TOLOnews: "It is better to foster more understanding, trust from the international community, and greater interaction and alignment with the United Nations and the international community to achieve specific goals in Afghanistan; otherwise, the continuation of this situation is not in the interest of our people and country."

Nearly three years have passed since the Islamic Emirate regained power in the country; however, the names of some interim government officials still remain on the UN blacklist.

Previously, Zabihullah Mujahid told TOLOnews that the names of more than 24 officials of the Islamic Emirate are still on the UN, United States, and European Union blacklists.
