Over 2,200 Ethnic Disputes Resolved in Country: Ministry

The Ministry of Borders, Ethnicities, and Tribes said of more than 2,200 ethnic disputes in the country have been resolved.

Mohammad Ali Jan Ahmad, the Deputy Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs, told TOLOnews that these disputes have been resolved since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, and the interim government is committed to resolving ethnic disputes in the country.

He said: "So far, we have resolved more than 2,221 ethnic disputes, in which hundreds of people were killed, people suffered financial losses, and some were disabled. Alhamdulillah, we have resolved these in our three-year plan."

According to Ahmad, since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, no girl has been given in baad (practice of giving girls to resolve disputes) across the country, and no one will be allowed to do so.

The Deputy Minister added that perpetrators of such acts will be referred to judicial and legal authorities.

Mohammad Ali Jan Ahmad added: "The Sheikh has ordered that henceforth, women and girls should not be given in baad to anyone, as it is against Sharia rules."

Experts said the resolution of disputes is essential for the solidarity of the country's citizens.

Abdul Hadi Quraishi, a political affairs expert, said: "If these problems are not resolved, ultimately, it will lead to disunity among the people in the region, as it creates division and undermines unity."

According to the information from the Ministry of Borders, Ethnicities, and Tribes, most disputes in the past three years have been resolved in the provinces of Nangarhar, Nuristan, Badghis, Jawzjan, the southeastern region, and northern provinces of the country.
