Several girls in the capital who have been deprived of education and are now engaged in learning painting once again urged the Islamic Emirate to reopen schools for girls above the sixth grade.
They said education is one of their fundamental rights and they asked the interim government to support women in various fields.
Sharifa, one of these girls, says that she turned to the art of painting a year ago, but learning this art is not everything for her.
This girl, who was in the ninth grade when she was forced to leave school, is waiting for the doors of schools to open for girls.
Sharifa told TOLOnews: "I have been painting for a year. Our problems are economic. We ask the government to open schools so that girls can study properly."
Like Sharifa, other girls are also busy learning to paint.
They say that to escape psychological pressure, they have turned to learning various arts and face many challenges.
Agha Bano, another student, said: "I have been painting for a year. I didn't want to sit idle at home. My request to the government is to let us study and progress."
Some women's rights activists said the role of women and girls in the country is important and they urged the Islamic Emirate to reopen schools for girls above the sixth grade.
Tafsir Siyahposh, a women's rights activist, said: "We Afghan women have always had three demands: freedom in accordance with Islam, reopening the doors of schools and universities, and reconsidering the restrictions imposed so that we, as the daughters of this land, can play our role in society."
On September 17, 2022, the Ministry of Higher Education issued a directive that all secondary and high schools for girls above the sixth grade would remain closed until further notice.
Now more than a thousand days have passed since the closure of schools in the country, and there is still no news of their reopening.
