Several residents of Khastak Valley in Juram district, Badakhshan, express concern due to lack of access to telecommunication services.
They are urging the officials in the caretaker government to address their challenges.
However, the head of Afghan Telecom in Badakhshan has announced the activation of three telecommunication network sites in this area.
Din Mohammad, a resident of Juram district, Badakhshan, said, "We have no access to any telecommunication network here, we are facing many problems, for instance, if we encounter an issue, we have to walk for one or two hours to find a spot to make a call."
Inamullah, another resident of Juram district, Badakhshan, added, "Our request of the government is to take practical steps to address the problems of the people and to cooperate with us."
However, provincial officials of Afghan Telecom in Badakhshan say that three telecommunication network sites are to be established in Khastak valley and preliminary work has already begun.
Abdul Hamid Hakimi, the provincial head of the state-owned Afghan Telecom: "Furthermore, in Khastak valley the GPS and preliminary work in three areas have been completed and the telecommunication networks will be activated soon."
Badakhshan, located in the northeast of the country, is one of the provinces where most of the districts' residents do not have access to telecommunication and internet services and are constantly requesting the authorities to resolve this challenge.
