The Deputy Minister of Borders, Ethnicities, and Tribes told TOLOnews that 60% of the border challenges with neighboring countries have been resolved through mutual understanding, and efforts are ongoing to resolve the remaining border challenges with these countries.
Mohammad Ali Jan Ahmad, Deputy of Assemblies and Coordination of Tribal Affairs at the Ministry of Borders, Ethnicities, and Tribes, did not specify the exact nature of the border challenges but added that rocket attacks on Kunar have also been prevented.
Jan Ahmad told TOLOnews: "Based on percentages, 60% of the border challenges with countries have been resolved compared to the past, and we have resolved and continue to resolve these problems with neighboring countries through mutual understanding."
He added that the interim government has the capability to prevent incursions into Afghanistan.
Referring to the previous government's rocket attacks on Kunar province, the ministry official said: "In the republic, hundreds of rockets were fired daily, but now they are not, and we are currently resolving challenges with countries through dialogue. We have the capability to prevent incursions into Afghanistan."
Meanwhile, some political analysts said that resolving Afghanistan's border challenges with its neighbors is beneficial for all countries.
Hanif Khan Karokhail, a political analyst, said: "Resolving border challenges is of vital importance for Afghanistan, and all countries must keep their borders secure. It is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defense to deploy professional border police along the borders."
The Ministry of Interior previously stated that in the past two years, there have been nearly fifty border clashes with Iran, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
