Islamic Emirate and China Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The ambassador of the Islamic Emirate in China met with the country’s Special Representative for Afghanistan yesterday (Monday), describing the relations between Kabul and Beijing as positive and emphasizing the need to further strengthen these ties.

In a statement, the Afghan Embassy in China reported that during the meeting, both parties discussed expanding political relations, fostering good relations with neighboring countries, enhancing regional economic connectivity, and addressing consular and commercial issues.

Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, told TOLOnews: “In this meeting, there were discussions on further expanding the political relations between Afghanistan and China, interacting with neighboring countries, strengthening economic connectivity, and addressing transit and trade issues.”

Meanwhile, some political analysts said that the Islamic Emirate must maintain a balance in expanding relations between the East and the West.

Salim Paigir, a political analyst, told TOLOnews: “The current circumstances require that any country wishing to have good relations with Afghans, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is compelled to establish relations with them. However, in all relations, we must consider maintaining balance.”

Another political analyst, Moeen Gul Samkani, said: “If we do not consider balance and lean towards the East without engaging the West, it is possible that the scenario of the 1980s will repeat itself, in which case, we Afghans will suffer greatly.”

China is one of the countries that has had good relations with the Islamic Emirate. Previously, Abdul Salam Hanafi, the administrative deputy of the Prime Minister, also asked the Chinese ambassador in Kabul to support the position of the Islamic Emirate in global forums.
