Since the beginning of the current solar year, 68 traffic incidents in Bamyan have resulted in the deaths of 20 people and injuries to more than 30 others.
Bamyan local officials said that women and children are among the deceased and injured in these incidents.
In the most recent incident, on Saturday a high-speed vehicle of the Pasoo type with ten passengers overturned on the Bamyan -- Band Amir Road after veering off the road. As a result, four people, including women and children, lost their lives, and six others were injured.
Amruddin Amiri, the traffic incidents officer of Bamyan, said, "The speed of this vehicle was 140 km/h, and it was trying to overtake another vehicle when another car came from the opposite direction, causing the vehicle to veer off the dirt road and overturn."
Mohammad Khawani Rasa, the spokesperson for the Bamyan Police Command said, "Since the beginning of this year, 68 traffic incidents have occurred in Bamyan, resulting in 20 deaths and 37 injuries."
Some drivers and residents of Bamyan attribute the increase in these incidents to the crowding of tourists, narrow roads, lack of traffic signs, and drivers' carelessness.
Sayed Hakim, a resident of Bamyan, said: "Tourists usually come to Bamyan at a specific time, and they are not familiar with the roads, driving at high speeds."
Sayed Taqi, a driver, said: "Most drivers are young and unaware of traffic laws, which leads to traffic accidents."
Mohammad Hakim, a resident of Bamyan, said: "When the roads are not good and the streets are in poor condition, it definitely impacts the increase in traffic incidents."
Reportedly, to reduce traffic incidents, driving licenses have been issued to more than 400 people in the current solar year, and opportunities for learning traffic laws have been provided.
