Some Afghan migrants in Pakistan have told TOLOnews that the possible start of a second round of deportations of Afghan migrants from the country has caused them great concern.
They have added that they have been living in Pakistan for many years and cannot suddenly abandon their businesses and return to Afghanistan.
The Afghan migrants in Pakistan urged the government of Pakistan and international migration organizations to seriously address their challenges.
"Some Afghans living here in Pakistan have been residing here for the past forty years and continue their lives. They are not physically or mentally prepared to return to Afghanistan so soon," said Ehsan Ahmadzai, an Afghan migrant in Pakistan.
"There are migrants who were born in Pakistan. If they are sent to Afghanistan, they will become refugees once again. In Afghanistan, they will face problems such as a lack of shelter and access to education," said Allah Mir, another Afghan migrant in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Islamabad said in a statement that the US Ambassador, during a meeting with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, discussed various issues, including support for Afghan migrants in Pakistan.
At the same time, some Pakistani media outlets have reported that the process of forcibly deporting Afghan migrants who are residing in Pakistan without legal documents will also begin.
"International organizations should provide a platform for diplomatic dialogue with Pakistan to ensure the support of migrants, solve their problems, and prevent the forced deportation of this group of migrants," Asifa Stanakzai, an activist in the field of migrants' rights, told TOLOnews.
Earlier, Pakistan's Interior Minister, in a meeting with the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for Afghanistan, had stated that the second phase of the deportation of Afghan migrants from Pakistan would begin soon.
