Kabul Municipality states that over the past year, more than six billion afghani in revenue have been collected, reflecting an increase of one billion afghani compared to the previous year.
During a program outlining the one-year achievements of the department, Kabul Municipality officials revealed that over 120 kilometers of public and secondary roads have been constructed, and more than 70,000 meters of additional roads have been repaired.
Nematullah Barakzai, a representative of Kabul Municipality, added that over the past year, 2,398 properties have been expropriated, and compensation for more than a thousand of these properties has been paid.
Barakzai stated: "More than 1.5 billion afghani have actually been distributed to the people, and we have also allocated another half billion afghani for this purpose. Thus, thank God, Kabul Municipality does not have any financial problems."
Other accomplishments of the municipality in the past year include the construction of 19 public buildings, the installation of over five thousand lights on Kabul's streets, the planting of two million trees and ornamental plants, the removal of more than 520,000 tons of garbage from the city, and the destruction of 205 tons of low-quality and expired food and non-food items.
The spokesperson for Kabul Municipality stated: "We specifically collected and completely disposed of over 205 tons of various materials, including food and cleaning products, which were unfortunately being sold in Kabul city, in accordance with standard procedures."
Mohammad Qasim Afghan, the head of planning, policy, monitoring, and evaluation at Kabul Municipality, mentioned that the design for the construction of three pedestrian bridges to reduce traffic congestion at the Barkhi intersection, Deh Afghanan, and Minar-e-Nijat in Kabul has also been finalized.
Afghan elaborated: "We have three pedestrian bridges for vehicles that I previously mentioned, located at Barkhi intersection, Minar-e-Nijat, and Deh Afghanan."
Despite these efforts, traffic congestion and the presence of street vendors remain in some intersections; however, in certain intersections of Kabul, street vendors have been removed from the roads, and the level of traffic congestion has also decreased.
