Muttaqi Discusses Relations With Regional Representatives

Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister, held talks with representatives from China, Iran, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and India regarding bilateral political and economic relations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press release, stated that Muttaqi highlighted the current security situation in the country as beneficial for both Afghanistan and the region.

The press release said: "In this meeting, there was discussion on bilateral political relations and comprehensive economic cooperation between Afghanistan and regional countries. Amir Khan Muttaqi deemed the security situation in Afghanistan reliable and beneficial for both Afghanistan and regional countries."

Idris Zazi, a political analyst, said: "Peace and stability in Afghanistan and ensuring that Afghanistan is not used against others, are essential for the region."

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement, the representatives of these countries also emphasized the importance of increasing interactions and cooperation with Afghanistan during the meeting.

The press release further stated: "The representatives of the mentioned countries also reiterated their commitment to expanding comprehensive cooperation with Afghanistan and expressed confidence in Afghanistan’s security situation."

Sayed Akbar Sial Wardak, a political analyst, said: "It is better for the Islamic Emirate to expand its political, trade, and cultural relations with regional countries."

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Minister had also emphasized pragmatic engagement with the caretaker government of Afghanistan at the Moscow Format meeting.
