Islamic Emirate: '62,000' People Begging Were Collected in Past 2 Years

The Islamic Emirate reports that the Beggar Collection Committee has gathered 62,000 people begging from ten provinces, including Kabul, over the past two years.

Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, stated that out of this number, nearly 28,000 were found to be deserving, more than 31,000 were professional beggars, and the remaining were orphans and drug addicts.

According to Fitrat, the highest number of those begging was collected from Kabul, and the lowest from Nimroz province.

The Deputy Spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate said: "27,715 beggars were identified as deserving, 31,126 as professional beggars, and the rest were orphans and drug addicts. These children have been referred to care homes under the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, where they are provided with education opportunities and receive a monthly salary."

At the same time, some university professors and psychologists say that the Islamic Emirate should provide education and livelihood opportunities for deserving individuals, especially children.

Zakiullah Mohammadi, a university professor, said: "When we provide them with opportunities to be financially stable at home and focus on their education, it would be very beneficial. If the Islamic Emirate is serious about this initiative, they should sign agreements with private and public schools."

Zakaria Barakzai, a psychologist, said: "If we address their punishment in the form of rehabilitative measures and introduce them to psychologists, regular therapy sessions should be held to begin the process."

Previously, the leader of the Islamic Emirate had instructed the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs to coordinate with relevant institutions and begin working on the collection of people begging.
