15,000 Acres of Govt Land Investigated and Confirmed

The Ministry of Justice reports the review of over 17,000 acres of land in Kabul and several other provinces.

Barkatullah Rasouli, the ministry's spokesperson, stated that during a meeting of the Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing and the Recovery of Seized Lands, cases involving thousands of acres of land in the provinces of Balkh, Jawzjan, Kunduz, Maidan Wardak, Zabul, and Paktika were reviewed. Out of the 17,000 acres of land, nearly 15,000 acres were identified as government property.

The Ministry of Justice spokesperson added: "In this meeting, the Commission for the Prevention of Land Grabbing identified nearly 15,000 acres of the total 17,000 acres of land in Balkh, Jawzjan, Kunduz, Maidan Wardak, Zabul, and Paktika as government land. Some cases have also been referred to the special court handling land grab cases."

According to Rasouli, this meeting also discussed and reviewed the settlement of lands in the districts of Chahar Asyab, Musahi, and the Refah Township in Chahar Asyab, as well as hundreds of acres of land in Shakardara district and Kabul’s 17th district.

Hewad Zazai, a political analyst, said: "Privately owned lands that have been seized by powerful individuals should also be addressed, and we call on the Islamic Emirate to make efforts to return these lands as well."

Previously, the Ministry of Justice announced that over 250,000 acres of government land had been identified in 23 provinces over the past month.
